ZEVENTIENTWAALF

SEVENTEEN-TWELVE

This project consists of several reconstructions of all kinds of stories within transgressive behavior, from unwanted touching to rape. In collaboration with individuals who have ever experienced transgressive behavior, we look for the

elaboration of their personal story. We focus on dissecting the event but also on a forensic view where the atmosphere tells more than a thousand words.

64% (of 5,000 people), according to the UN-MRNAMAIS study in Belgium, have ever experienced transgressive behavior of which 4/5 are girls and women, 1/2 boys and men. These are frightening figures and it is only getting worse. A taboo, unmentionable subject. These facts are pushed aside and avoided, but through this project I want to bring transgressive behavior more into the spotlight. To make people realize that nobody is protected from this kind of behavior, every layer of society can be affected. With this project I have given people the opportunity to bring their story into the world in anonymity. We want to put out the same message; "You are never alone!"
