The Return to Club Malibu is a fictional story worked out in voyeuristic and staged images and is based on and intended as a sequel to Steven Thoelen's work Club Malibu.

The sequel The Return to Club Malibu shows how ex-clubbers, who were once part of the sex work that colored the life of Club Malibu, return for a final time to their old brothel where the walls bear witness to secret meetings, forbidden desires and a lifestyle that remained hidden from many in society. There they look back on a time when boundaries between work, pleasure and personal freedom were often blurred.

As they walk through the familiar halls and rooms of the club, they reflect on their experiences: the challenges of the work, the power of mutual support, and the ways in which they found their own autonomy in a sometimes complex and stigmatizing environment. Now, with the club’s demise looming, they are searching not only for the spirit of the old days, but also for a way to say goodbye to an important chapter in their lives.
